Happy Memorial Day (US), book friends!
This weekend, the hubby is back from a month in Japan so you know what we’re doing, right?? … … … HOUSE PROJECTS! Woohoo! Yay for painting all the shutters and window sills on the exterior of our house!
Okay, admittedly, he’s less than this excited about all the manual labor but I’m daydreaming about a porch swing at the end of this madness and that keeps me going.
Yesterday, we took a break and celebrated his birthday by shooting guns and going for a motorcycle ride. Today, we’re back at it with more painting and yard clean-up.

My husband is back from a work trip which means lots of dad jokes and terrible puns to make up for being gone. One of the best–even I laughed–was yesterday. We’d gone to the shooting range and were trying to take off our earphones as we were leaving. They’re heavy and spring-loaded to collapse into each other when you take them off. So you have to pull to get them off your head. My husband’s grip slipped and one side smacked him in the forehead–hard! Then, like 4 seconds later, I did the same and got punched in the nose so hard my eyes were watering!
F*&$%^! it hurt!
Later, we were comparing injuries and he says “Look at this knot on my forehead!”
I said, “Tomorrow that’ll be a bruise.”
And without missing a beat, he said, “Probably knot.”
Guys, this is real life.
