Who Run This Motha?

You know that feeling you get when you find somebody else who loves the same book as you? It’s just as good as reading the book itself! That connection is why I tell stories and I think it’s also why readers love to read them.

With this new project, I’m going to continue in that tradition, but this time I’m going to tell you a little bit of a different kind of story. I’m going to tell you MY story.

My hope is that it resonates and provides a connection that you have been searching for or maybe that you didn’t know you were missing all along.

Women are lonely. Invisible. Isolated. They’re trying to do all the things for all people—except for one. They don’t do nearly enough for themselves. We’re worn out and too proud to ask for help. Because society means for us to take care of “them” so we don’t speak up when we need someone to take care of us.

How could I know enough about that to possibly speak for all women just now?

Because I’m her. I’m you.

After years of toxic, unhealthy, dysfunctional relationships, I got tired of feeling like there was something wrong me with me. Like maybe I just didn’t know how to be a good friend or partner. And I decided to get real about HOW to FIND and BUILD amazing friendships.

It. Has. Changed. My. Life.

me with Chelsea Fine & Amanda Aksel, Raw Honeys co-hosts

I believe women need each other now more than ever. That we’re meant to lean on one another. Trust one another. Lift each other up.

I believe female community is the reflection we all need to realize we’re not alone.

Women need validation. Credit. Encouragement. Love. Acceptance. Laughter.

When was the last time you laughed with your girlfriends???

If you can’t remember OR you don’t have girlfriends to laugh with—I’ve been there. And I’m here for you.

The Raw Honeys Podcast answers a call—no, a screaming VOID—for women everywhere who need someone who “gets” them. Someone who cheers for them. Who loves them no matter what. Who can listen to them say hard things and nod and say “me too.” Who reminds them they are not alone or weird or different. We feel you. We get you. We know.

Humans were created with a need to connect. To be seen and heard.

Women, especially, are built for tribe!

But so many of us don’t have one. We have no support. No real friends. No one to hold space for us to be comforted or even better—to be BIGGER.

Do you have anyone in your corner telling you “YOU CAN DO THIS!”??

Here I am. I’m telling you. You’re special and amazing and worth it. You got this. BE BIG. DREAM HUGE. MAKE IT HAPPEN. Stop shrinking to make others feel better. Stop saying “yes” when you should be saying “no.” Stop choosing “them” when you should be choosing YOU.

We have plenty of people who judge us or sugarcoat or lie to make themselves feel less threatened by what we’re capable of. We have gossipers and manipulators and energy-drainers.

That’s not your people.

I’m your people. This podcast is your people.

This podcast is a project of my heart, maybe even more than my books are. I care deeply about it because I care deeply about YOU. I want you to feel all the things that come from a real, honest, unconditional friendship. If you don’t have one, you’ll find it here with us. And if you do, know how lucky you are. And come join us to spread some of the magic.

Because female friendships ARE our superpower.

Here’s how you can CONNECT with my newest project, The Raw Honeys Podcast:

  1. Listen now! A podcast is just like an audiobook. Or a talk show without the screen. It’s audio only. And our show is just a trio of women chatting about what it’s like to be a real woman with real issues. We don’t hold back and we aren’t on our best behavior. **Use headphones if you have little ears around. We’re called the “Raw” Honeys because we keep it real, yo.

  2. Connect! Join our Facebook group—a safe space to be real, befriend, and be loved. OR follow us on Instagram!

  3. SHARE us with another HONEY. If you love our episode, don’t forget to rate/review it and then SHARE it with another woman who needs a badass tribe.

Here are all the places you can listen:

What kind of stuff do we talk about?

Everything! We cover a variety of issues from what it’s like to be a momma these days to our take on what it means to be “SEXY” and whether that’s a compliment or a stereotype. We also laugh. A lot. And we say bad words because that’s just real life for us.

BUT you should know that this week’s episode is HEAVY.

(If you want to start with something light and fun and friendship-y, listen to Befriend & Begin, ep 1.)

It’s called “Letting Go of Trauma” and it’s a heavy part of my story. MY REAL story.

Trauma. Depression. Grief.

Losing my dad to something worse than death.

Yes, I said WORSE than death. Unless you’ve walked in my shoes, you don’t understand there is a loss that goes deeper than that.

I talk about BIG life-shaking things that have happened to me and how I’ve coped through some of life’s worst seasons. Intimate details about the darkest parts of my life, and how, through those struggles, I learned to face the fire and forge a stronger more capable version of myself.

This episode is the epitome of our message that YOU are not alone.

This project means the world to me. I hope you’ll give it a listen.

You can find all our latest episodes on our website OR listen on your favorite podcast app.

A new episode drops every week, and if you feel it, let us know. If you have an idea for an episode, drop me a line. Until then,

Keep it real, honey.

Xoxo
